It is important to put together the efforts of family and school in order to promote active citizenship, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich told reporters after he attended the inauguration of Secondary School No. 2 in Frunzensky District of Minsk on 2 September, BelTA has learned.
Mikhail Myasnikovich believes that it is wrong to solely rely on school to bring up a modern citizen. He noted that family and school should address this task together. “If family and school join efforts, this will produce a synergistic effect,” he said.
During the back-to-school ceremony Mikhail Myasnikovich wished success to school children, teachers and parents. This day was particularly important and memorable for 225 first-grade students of the school.
Mikhail Myasnikovich studied the physical infrastructure of the school. The school can seat 1,020 students who will study in the same shift in a comfortable environment. The school boasts an information and technology center, modern sports facilities, a shooting range, a ski base, an assembly hall and a room for public associations, lecture halls, hobby clubs and a swimming pool.
Mikhail Myasnikovich spoke with teachers and students. He gave first graders the gift of the Belarusian president – the book Belarus is Our Motherland with a DVD supplement. The book has colorful illustrations, while the DVD contains additional audio and video information, interactive games and challenges (quizzes, puzzles, etc.).
Solemn back-to-school ceremonies took place at Belarusian schools on 2 September. Over 1 million school children will get down to studies in the new academic year (including 115,000 first-graders).
