The incident with the Russian bomber near the Turkish-Syrian border will not have any direct consequences for the Belarusian-Turkish relations, Director of the Center for Strategic and Foreign Policy Studies Arseniy Sivitsky said during the TV program "Club of Editors" aired on the Belarus 1 TV Channel on 29 November, BelTA has learned.
"I do not think there will be some direct consequences. Minsk and Ankara have developed very high-level relations,” the analyst stressed. “Belarus generally sticks to the policy of non-interference in regional crises, both bilateral and multilateral. It helps the country maintain neutrality in such complex situations, while maintaining the maximum level of trust with all the conflicting parties,” he noted.
As an example, Arseniy Sivitsky cited the good relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan. "We have good relations with Armenia. The same is true for the Belarusian-Turkish cooperation,” the expert added
A Russian Su-24 was shot down by an F-16 of the Turkey Air Force. Ankara says the downed plane violated the Turkish airspace. The Russian Defense Ministry insists the Russian bomber had not crossed the border of Turkey.
