A welfare state is about taking care of all Belarusians, Aleksei Avdonin, an analyst with the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research (BISR), said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

The day before, the new Belarus' Constitution draft was put out for national debate. Every Belarusian has an opportunity to contribute their views on it. One of the most important points of the bill is that Belarus remains a welfare state.

“A welfare economy, a welfare state means that everyone takes care of each other, that no Belarusian is left behind. This is an internal request of our society. We cannot disregard it. This is our development model, it was shaped by history, and we cannot abandon it for the sake of some liberal values,” Aleksei Avdonin said.
