World Environment Day

Belarus celebrates the World Environment Day every year on 5 June.

The territory of Belarus is 20,760,000 hectares*.

Land resources of the Republic of Belarus (2010; 2019):

land under swamps and water bodies - 6.5%; 6.1%

forest land - 41.3%, 42.5%

agricultural land - 42.9%, 40.4%

other lands - 9.4%, 11.0%.

Specially protected natural areas – 1,870,100 hectares* (9% of the country's territory):

1 reserve

4 national parks

381 wildlife sanctuaries

911 natural monuments

Belarus' Red Book of Endangered Species includes :

202 species of wild animals

303 species of wild plants

100% of the forest land is managed with a long-term management plan.

Over 90% of forests have been certified in compliance with international standards.
