All in all, approximately 1 million students will begin the new school year in Belarus on 1 September (982,300 in 2016/2017).
The theme of the first lesson on the Day of Knowledge is Belarus is my Motherland.
Educational institutions in the academic year 2017/2018:
51 universities (42 public, 9 private), 113 institutions of secondary specialized education, 135 institutions of vocational-technical education, 2,826 schools, 210 gymnasiums, 27 lyceums, 3,817 pre-school institutions.
2017 will see two new schools open in Minsk and Krichev (1020 places each) and 16 pre-school education comissioned.
More than 2.3 million children, pupils and students will attend educational institutions of all levels. The teaching complement is 451,800.
