Minsk in Top 20 Global Sports Cities

According to the Sportcal Global Sports Cities Index, Minsk has made it into the Top 20 Global Sports Cities for the first time:

1. London

2. Rio de Janeiro

3. Tokyo

4. Moscow

7. Budapest

8. Copenhagen

19. Minsk

34. Los Angeles

42. Rome

The Index analyzes data on 610 cities which have hosted, or will host, events across 146 categories, in 75 sports (in 2010-2023).

The Belarusian capital has the experience of hosting big international events, having hosted the 2010 KHL All-Star Game, the 2012 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, the 2014 IIHF World Championship, the 2015 AMF Futsal Men's World Cup and the 2015 European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships.

The Belarusian capital is gearing up to host the Second European Games in 2019.
