The Soyuz MS-03 spacecraft carrying three crew members was successfully launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on 17 November.
The crew of the ISS 50/51 mission:
mission commander Oleg Novistky, born in Cherven, Minsk Oblast (Roscosmos cosmonaut)
onboard engineer Thomas Pesquet (ESA astronaut, France)
onboard engineer Peggy Whitson (NASA astronaut, the United States)
The Soyuz MS-03 spacecraft is set to dock the ISS on 20 November 2016
Oleg Novitsky will bring Belarus' national flag to the ISS.
The total planned duration of the flight is 180 days.
Tasks to be performed during the flight:
flight tests of the new spacecraft, and testing of the new systems: onboard radio system, combined propulsion system, motion control and navigation system, television system;
44 scientific experiments in various areas like bio-medical, geophysical, biotechnological, etc;
transport cargo vehicle operations.
It is the second space mission for Oleg Novitsky. He commanded the Soyuz TMA-06M spacecraft to the orbiting complex from 23 October 2012 to 16 March 2013.
