The National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus is a representative and legislative body of Belarus. It consists of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic.

Duration of the National Assembly is 4 years.

House of Representatives

Membership – 110 MPs.

Members of the House of Representatives are elected directly by citizens.

A citizen of Belarus who has reached the age of 21 can be a member of the House of Representatives.

Council of the Republic (chamber of territorial representation)

Membership - 64 members.

Members of the Council of the Republic are elected by local councils of deputies of the grassroots level (eight members from each region and the city of Minsk), eight are appointed by the president.

A citizen of Belarus who has reached the age of 30 and has lived in the relevant region, the city of Minsk for at least 5 years can be a member of the Council of the Republic.

Council of the Republic – 7 November 2019

House of Representatives - 17 November 2019.
