Belarus' Meat and Dairy Industry

Livestock farming is the linchpin of the country's agriculture. The sector accounts for more than 50% of the country's agricultural output.

The number of livestock in agricultural organizations*:

Cattle – 4,218,200 head, including cows – 1,432,500

Brest Oblast – 864,800; 289,000

Vitebsk Oblast - 534,300; 188,300

Gomel Oblast - 648,600; 226,000

Grodno Oblast - 687,600; 222,800

Minsk Oblast - 957,200; 334,300

Mogilev Oblast - 525,700; 172,200.

Cattle and poultry output made up 596,200 tonnes (105.7%).

Milk production (tonnes)* - 2,402,900 (105.6% year-on-year).

Brest Oblast - 606,000

Vitebsk Oblast - 225,100

Gomel Oblast - 311,500

Grodno Oblast - 431,900

Minsk Oblast - 623,900

Mogilev Oblast – 204,500.
