Belarus is self-sufficient in food production and is the CIS leader in per capita production*:

potatoes - 618kg

meat - 129kg

milk - 775kg

Belarus ranks fifth in the CIS in per capita grain production (649kg), fourth in vegetable production (184kg).

Per capita consumption of staple foods in 2018:

meat and meat products - 94kg

milk and dairy products - 247kg

eggs - 259

potatoes and potato products - 170kg vegetables, cucurbits crops and products made from them - 150kg

fruit, berries and products made from them – 92kg.

Per capita consumption of staple foods in 2010:

meat and meat products - 84kg

milk and dairy products - 247kg

eggs – 292

potatoes and potato products - 183kg vegetables, cucurbits crops and products made from them - 149kg

fruit, berries and products made from them – 65kg.

The share of domestic grocery in retail sales in H1 2019:

eggs - 100%

meat and meat products – 99.9%

butter – 99.9%

sugar – 94.5%

cheese– 93.7%

flour – 90.2%

potatoes – 89.8%

As of early 2019, there were about 17,000 grocery stores in Belarus (29% of the total number of stores) or 18 grocery stores per 10,000 population.
