On this day believers get ready to celebrate one of the most important holidays of the Eastern Orthodox Church - the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, or Theophany, that is marked on 19 January. There is a church tradition that prescribes abstinence from almost all foods until the candle is taken out at the morning liturgy on 19 January.
