Youth invited to join work on Belarus' green economy plan

MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) - Young people in Belarus have the opportunity to get involved in the development of the National Action Plan on Green Economy, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic and National Coordinator for the SDGs Anatoly Isachenko said at the opening of the youth forum "Green Economy-Successful Future" on 28 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament.

According to the vice speaker of the Council of the Republic, it is young people who will determine the future of the country. “It is important for us, the older generation, that today's Belarusian youth stay committed to the basic principles of sustainable development. Such an approach is a desire to preserve the path chosen by the Belarusian people a quarter of a century ago,” said Anatoly Isachenko.

In his words, green economy is one of the development priorities of many countries worldwide. “Belarus also pays much attention to the issue. Green schools in Belarus testifies to the fact,” he stressed.

According to Anatoly Isachenko, Belarusians need to change their way of thinking and preserve the nature of the country. “Young people play an important role in this process,” said the deputy chairman of the Council of the Republic.

The participants of the two-day forum are expected to take part in dialogue platforms to discuss priority areas of the draft National Action Plan on Green Economy 2021-2025 and also in the panel discussions “Youth Voice for a Green Future”.
