Work in progress to reduce queues at Belarusian-Lithuanian border

MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) – The Transport and Communications Ministry, the State Customs Committee, and the Belarusian association of international road carriers BAMAP are working out measures to reduce queues in border checkpoints at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, the ministry's press service told BelTA after a videoconference meeting was held to discuss the matter.

Belarusian Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Sergei Dubina, Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee Aleksandr Bogdevich, BAMAP Chairman Nikolai Borovoi as well as 20 heads and representatives of trucking companies from various parts of the country participated in the meeting. Apart from the situation at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border participants of the meeting discussed ways to improve customs escort procedures, amendments to the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union (the part that stipulates the responsibility of the declarant) and to the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty (in order to improve the issuance of transport control results).

The meeting also touched upon the problem of completion of the customs transit procedure in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union and the need to promptly develop and embrace digital workflows in the course of international transportation in territories of the Eurasian Economic Union member states.
