Virtual expo Made in Belarus praised as example of forward thinking

MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the enterprises that belong to the chamber's system have actively started mastering new formats of cooperation. The first virtual expo of Belarusian producers Made in Belarus #AgroFood is a case in point, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Vladimir Ulakhovich during the expo's official opening ceremony.

The official said: “It is a very important and special project at this stage, including for the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Exhibition activities have been and, I am convinced, will remain a most important tool for advancing economic and business ties and cooperation. But for chambers of commerce and industry exhibition activities represent a traditional form of support for enterprises and the private sector. But today's situation has forced adjustments in our life and has actually vetoed the organization of conventional offline expos. However, we know very well that the private sector is not accustomed to waiting for a long time for things to improve on their own, this is why our chamber and the enterprises that belong to the system of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry have actively dived into mastering new formats of cooperation. The first virtual expo, which starts working today, confirms it.”

Speaking about the theme of the expo, Vladimir Ulakhovich stressed it had not been chosen by accident. “Agro and Food are the topics of special importance for all countries. I am talking about food supplies, the availability of organic food, and a number of other areas. Belarus has always maintained a very high standing on the global market as a food supplier and has been one of the leaders in this field. Last year Belarusian companies exported $5.519 billion worth of food. We export food to 104 countries across the globe. In 2019 alone Belarusian products were introduced in ten new African countries. But our producers have no intention of stopping. They will continue going step by step towards the $6 billion milestone,” the official said.

Made in Belarus #AgroFood has been organized under the aegis of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with assistance of industry-specific ministries and government agencies, chambers of commerce and industry and business associations of a number of countries.

Visiting the expo is free of charge, but registration is mandatory. Registration is available at https://www.belinterexpo.by/exhibition/virtual/ while the interactive platform is located at https://mib.by/ . Visitors will be able to talk to the companies that participate in the expo by text chat on 16-18 June. Then the platform will be opened in a demonstration mode till 19 July 2020.
