Unspoken words, gaps between political decisions and practice in EAEU pointed out

MOSCOW, 6 March (BelTA) – In the Eurasian Economic Union there are certain unspoken words and a gap between political decisions made at the top level and practical deeds. Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich made the statement as he met with Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin in Moscow on 6 March, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Myasnikovich said: “I would like to note that there are quite many nodal issues that need to be resolved in order to truly move integration forward. Because, in my opinion, there is a certain gap between the high level of political decisions on integration made by heads of state and heads of government and practical deeds.”

Mikhail Myasnikovich remarked that the Eurasian Economic Commission is trying to plug the gap using tools stipulated by the draft strategic guidelines on further advancement of Eurasian economic integration till 2025. “In my opinion, the document is valuable primarily because, as a rule, it contains direct-action norms,” the chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission explained. “With a lower number of declarative and highfalutin statements the document offers directions for further actions even in titles of events and measures. We are now working hard in order to report the document is ready to the heads of government at a session of the intergovernmental council on 10 April.”

Mikhail Myasnikovich said that there are still certain points in the draft strategy that need to be agreed. “We will give them another look in the final variant at a session of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission on 16 March and then will report to the heads of government,” he said.

Mikhail Myasnikovich also said that after the prime ministers of the Eurasian Economic Union member states reviewed the draft strategy, it will be forwarded for consideration of the heads of state at a session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which is due in Minsk on 19 May.
