Trust in Belarusian products abroad rather high

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – The level of trust in Belarusian products abroad is rather high, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Belarusian state food industry concern Belgospishcheprom Oleg Zhidkov.

According to Oleg Zhidkov, Belgospishcheprom is not having much trouble due to Western sanctions because it has learned how to operate on its own regardless of the possibility or impossibility of shipping its products in the European direction.

Oleg Zhidkov said: “Today we are redirecting export to other countries, in particular, to the east. We are interested in the market of the People's Republic of China. We discovered it not so long ago (5-7 years ago) and are gradually increasing the volume of deliveries. The choice of exports sold to China is extensive – sugar, confectionery, baby food, rapeseed oil, and other things. In 2021 and in Q1 2022 the People's Republic of China became the second largest buyer ahead of many other countries. We are now learning how to operate on this market.”

Belgospishcheprom's products are exported to 36 countries in 2022. “The level of trust in our products is rather high. We are actively promoting them to the market of the Persian Gulf and Vietnam now. We are negotiating deliveries with India,” the Belgospishcheprom head said.

As for future plans, Belgospishcheprom enterprises intend to increase their output capacity and automate individual sections that require a lot of manual labor. “We traditionally imported equipment from European countries, but now we have offers for the delivery of alternative kinds of equipment from Turkey, Russia, China, and other friendly countries,” Oleg Zhidkov added.
