MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) - The trade between Belarus and Russia's Karelia increased by more than 1.5 times in January-March, BelTA learned from the press service of the Forestry Ministry of Belarus.

Belarus' exports rose by almost 1.8 times.

During a meeting to review the status of the protocol of the sixth meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Karelia of Russia, Belarusian Forestry Minister Aleksandr Kulik stressed that the potential for interaction between the parties has not been exhausted.

"I am convinced that we will be able to further increase mutual trade. All prerequisites are in place for this," the minister said.

By the decision of the government, the forestry minister has been appointed point man for the development of cooperation between Belarus and Russia's Karelia.
