MOSCOW, 25 May (BelTA) - The Eurasian Economic Union can become a link between Europe and Asia, the South and the North, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Moscow on 25 May, BelTA has learned.
"Another important area in the integration development may be the development of new international transport arteries. I am confident that our economic union will ultimately become a link between Europe and Asia, the global South and the North," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The Kazakhstan president welcomed the intention of Russia to develop transport corridors towards China, India, Pakistan, Iran, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. "There is an understanding of the need to develop the North-South transport corridor in conjunction with the Trans-Caspian route," he said.
