Tasting nights for Vitebsk Oblast foods in Russian Kaluga suggested

VITEBSK, 17 May (BelTA) – The organization of tasting nights featuring products by Vitebsk Oblast companies will help promote the products to new markets. The proposal to arrange such product sampling events in Russia's Kaluga Oblast was put forward by Roman Potekhin, Executive Director of the Kaluga Oblast Union of Industrialists and Employers, during the international economic forum in Vitebsk on 17 May, BelTA has learned.

Roman Potekhin explained that various events, including tasting nights, are arranged in the business club operating under the aegis of the Kaluga Oblast Union of Industrialists and Employers. As a rule, the tasting nights are arranged for local food producers and representatives of federal retail chains. “Admittance is free for food producers. The condition will apply to companies from Vitebsk Oblast, too. They will just have to bring and present their products,” noted the Kaluga Oblast representative. Such tasting nights result in framework cooperation agreements at the very least.

Roman Potekhin suggested setting up a Vitebsk Oblast trading house in Kaluga Oblast for the sake of enabling conditions for broader partnership. The trading house could also act as a convenient and effective negotiation platform.

Apart from that, the possibility of starting the production of baby food and the establishment of tinned food enterprises are under consideration in Kaluga Oblast. Belarusian companies are invited to participate in the projects.

Tourism can be another promising avenue of cooperation between the private sectors of the Belarusian region and the Russian one, believes Roman Potekhin. He suggested arranging a meeting of representatives of tourism industry companies from Vitebsk Oblast and Kaluga Oblast for the sake of sharing their work experience and discussing possible cooperation points.

Delegations from 14 countries took part in the seventh international economic forum in Vitebsk on 17 May. Presentations of the investment potential of every district of Vitebsk Oblast were arranged. The forum was organized by the Vitebsk Oblast administration, the Vitebsk city administration, the Vitebsk Oblast Marketing Center, and the administration of the free economic zone Vitebsk.
