Spring sowing in Belarus President Property Management Directorate farms in full swing

MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) - The agricultural organizations affiliated with the Belarus President Property Management Directorate have already sown more than 25% of their plan on early spring cereals and leguminous crops, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate.

“Taking into account the weather conditions, the farms located in Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast and partially Gomel Oblast have been able to kickstart the 2023 spring sowing campaign. Some 1,875 hectares out of the total 7,330 hectares have been sown - 25.6%. All farms are busy with applying mineral and organic fertilizers for spring sowing and boosting grain, colza and grass winter crops,” the Belarus President Property Management Directorate said.

In addition to spring cereals and leguminous crops the farms of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate plan to sow about 22,000 hectares of maize, 750 hectares of sugar beets, 660 hectares of potatoes, 132 hectares of vegetables and 3,500 hectares of annual crops this year. “Farms have been fully provided with seeds, fertilizers, plant protection products and machinery,” the press service said.

There are 12 crop farming organizations in the system of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate. Apart from crop and vegetable cultivation the farms specialize in the production of livestock (cattle and pigs), poultry, product processing and sales (meat and dairy products).
