MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – A ceremony took place in the National Library of Belarus in Minsk on 6 June to honor winners of the Belarusian government's quality excellence awards for last year's accomplishments, BelTA has learned.
The quality excellence awards are bestowed for securing considerable results in quality management and the competitive ability of products and services, in introducing innovative technologies and modern management methods. The winners are the Molodechno train depot of the enterprise Minsk Branch of Belarusian Railways, OAO Bobruisk Plant of Tractor Parts and Units (BZTDiA), OAO Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT for short, Volat trademark), the enterprise Applied Science Center for Food of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Grodno Oblast Clinical Perinatal Center, and the Energosbyt branch of the Gomel Oblast electric company Gomelenergo.
As many as 31 companies and organizations have confirmed their quality excellence awardee title. They represent mechanical engineering industry, food industry, transportation, civil engineering and other industries, light industry, perfumery, cosmetics, furniture, and the sphere of services. Special awards were bestowed for leadership, management perfection, and social responsibility.
Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko noted that awards had been bestowed upon companies and organizations, which effectively make products and offer services, companies and organizations, which had attained business excellence and consumer recognition. “They have built modern management systems and highly effective business processes, have demonstrated continuously successful development and mastering of new kinds of competitive products and high-quality services. Innovation efforts of these organizations help implement top-priority tasks of economy development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals,” he added.
Chairman of the State Standardization Committee of Belarus Viktor Nazarenko said that over 200 companies and organizations have been awarded since the contest was instituted. “It is quite difficult to become a member of this club of the best companies,” he stressed. “The quality excellence awards take into account the positive influence of the awardee on the society, the organization's active and important position in the region or the city and so on.”
The contest also takes into account export performance, management effectiveness, and conditions secured for the sake of long-term success in a changing competitive environment. The contest also measures the ability of companies and organizations to work out their development strategies, find new target markets, design and make innovative competitive products, and adopt modern management methods.
Winners and past winners, who have confirmed their title, will be able to use the quality excellence award emblem on their products and documents and for advertising purposes.
Winners of the contest The Best Quality Manager and the contest The Best Diploma Paper and University Student Research Paper in Quality Management in 2017 were also awarded on 6 June.
