Simple system of tax obligations identified as key attribute of modern tax service

MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) – A simple and accessible system of tax obligations is the key attribute of a tax service. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made the statement as tax service workers were congratulated on their professional holiday in the Palace of the Republic, BelTA has learned.

Roman Golovchenko said: “It is necessary to finish building a modern IT infrastructure for the tax service and ensure full digitization of tax payment records.”

In his words, hospitals, schools, sport facilities operate and Belarus' public and military security is ensured thanks to taxes. “Virtually two thirds of the country's budget and its revenues come from taxes. Effective tax collection is the most important factor of stability of the budget system and realization of Belarus' social and economic development programs. I am glad that high standards in your work allow promptly and clearly responding to changes in economic conditions without reducing tax revenues of the state budget,” he said. “The tax service did a lot to improve interaction with tax payers in the last two years. New technologies were introduced. They allow greatly improving performance in addition to enabling more comfortable tax payment conditions.” Roman Golovchenko added that the tax service also continues detecting and preventing off-the-books salaries. Over 50,000 notifications were sent to commercial entities in 2021 and Q1 2022.

Nowadays it is necessary to clearly build a vector of development of the country's tax system. “Ensuring the balance of interests of the state and the private sector is very complicated and delicate work. On the one hand, it is necessary to secure timely payment of taxes and effective control over their full payment. On the other hand, it is necessary to minimize interference in actions of commercial entities and prevent excessive tax burden and oversight pressure on the private sector,” he stressed.

According to Roman Golovchenko, many organizations and branches of the economy have faced serious challenges due to the need to rework foreign trade ties, build brand new logistic routes, schemes for moving financial resources, for buying components, and for exporting ready-made products. In such intensive conditions for the real sector of economy and trade it is very important not to create additional barriers and hindrances for searching for optimal solutions to economic challenges, he believes.
