GOMEL, 15 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian company Gomeltransneft Druzhba has started repairing a section of the Mozyr-Brest 3 oil pipeline, representatives of the company told BelTA.
The 17th km and the 30th km of the oil pipeline need to be repaired. Diagnostics has discovered a considerable amount of similar defects concentrated in one section of the oil pipeline in this area. Apart from that, the oil pipeline section is close to populated localities and bodies of water. If left unrepaired, the section represents substantial environmental risks in the course of normal operation, Gomeltransneft Druzhba representatives explained.
Plans have also been made to replace a total of 40 meters of the pipes. The work is supposed to be finished on 17 January. The source explained that the work will reduce the throughput capacity of the Mozyr-Brest section of the DN700 oil pipeline in January. Gomeltransneft Druzhba has already notified PAO Transneft about it.
A total of 1,300km of linear parts of the oil pipelines were examined in 2019. The inspection work was outsourced to the international company Baker Hughes Technologies and Pipeline Service. The work resulted in a report with recommendations on repairing the defects. After getting the report Gomeltransneft Druzhba put together a timetable for fixing the defects.
