Russia's Vologda to adopt Belarus' best practices in utilities

MOGILEV, 9 October (BelTA) – The Russian city of Vologda is going to adopt the best practices of Mogilev utilities companies (Belarus). The Russian city would also like to establish direct supplies of textiles, Svetlana Pakhnina, acting head of the economic development department of the Vologda city administration (Russia), told a press briefing in Mogilev on 9 October, BelTA has learned.

The delegation of Vologda is in Mogilev on a working visit during the Integration and Cooperation Week. It took part in a business matchmaking session for Vologda and Mogilev business in the Mogilev technological park on 9 October. “Our utilities companies are exploring the best practices of Mogilev service providers. We are interested in assimilating the best ones to improve our city. Light industry representatives are also here. They buy Mogilev textiles, but unfortunately, through intermediaries. We hope to establish direct supplies. We are also excited about building contacts in the woodworking industry,” Svetlana Pakhnina said.

The Russian guests are also scrutinizing Mogilev's experience in supporting small and medium business. “During the 5th Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia, Mogilev and Vologda will sign a plan of action to promote cooperation in economy, education, culture, youth policy and tourism,” Svetlana Pakhnina said. According to her, a lot of joint activities have been scheduled. The nearest one is the 3rd International Council on Cooperation in Vologda in November. Attending the event will be representatives of Mogilev.

The Russian delegation is set to visit manufacturing companies and public utilities of Mogilev and to see the sights of the city.
