Russia's Pskov Oblast hopes trade with Belarus will maintain momentum

PSKOV, 28 November (BelTA) – Pskov Oblast hopes that the positive trends in its trade with Belarus will remain in place, Governor of Russia's Pskov Oblast Mikhail Vedernikov told Belarusian and Russian media after the meeting with State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota in Pskov on 28 November, BelTA has learned.

According to the governor, since the start of 2018, the trade between Belarus and Pskov Oblast stood at $168 million, up 22% over the entire 2017. “I hope that this positive trend will remain in place,” he said.

Mikhail Vedernikov informed that during the talks with the state secretary they discussed joint renovation and construction of automobile roads in Pskov Oblast, organization of more convenient railroad transportation. “There cannot be any fast solutions, however we have agreed to start addressing these issues,” he noted.

The governor noted that the region has a history of good relations with Belarus. “We really appreciate that the Belarusian government is responsive to all kinds of situations. We have social facilities built with the help of Belarus. We cooperate in the event of any emergencies,” Mikhail Vedernikov noted.

A group of Belarusian journalists are on a press tour in Pskov. The tour was organized by the Union State Standing Committee jointly with the National Press Center of Belarus and the international news agency Rossiya Segodnya.
