Russian PM: EAEU plans to increase share of national currencies in mutual settlements

MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) - The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is developing an independent financial system and is planning to continue increasing the use of national currencies in mutual settlements, Russian Prime Minster Mikhail Mishustin said, according to TASS.

According to him, the EAEU countries are developing an independent financial system of the union. The goal is to further increase mutual trade. The EAEU countries also agreed on approaches to expanding the use of national currencies.

Mikhail Mishustin noted that promoting the integration within the framework of the EAEU is among the priorities of the Russian Federation. The indicators in this regard are very good, despite the geopolitical situation, he noted. For example, the intra-union trade rose by almost 14% in 2022.
