Russian oil keeps flowing to Ukraine via Belarus

MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – The transit of Russian oil to Ukraine via Belarus using the Druzhba oil pipeline continues for now while Poland has stopped Russian oil transit, BelTA learned from Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim Vladimir Sizov on 25 April.

The official said: “Oil is still being pumped towards Ukraine. We stay in touch with the company in charge of operating Ukrainian oil pipelines. We will release more information as the situation develops.”

On 24 April Poland stopped oil transit via the Druzhba oil pipeline system for an indefinite period of time due to the refusal of Polish and German oil refineries to process poor-quality Russian oil.

Last week Belneftekhim mentioned a sharp decrease in the quality of the Russian oil mixture Urals flowing in transit into the main oil pipeline section operated by OAO Polotsktransneft Druzhba. The oil pipeline system Druzhba delivers oil not only to both Belarusian oil refineries but also to Europe via Belarus in two directions – across Poland and Ukraine.
