MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) - Opportunities and needs of cooperation between Vladimir Oblast of Russia and Belarus are high, Vladimir Oblast Governor Alexander Avdeyev said as he met with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 16 May, BelTA has learned.

“The economic structure of Vladimir Oblast and Belarus are very similar in terms of industry and agriculture. That is why the opportunities and the needs of cooperation are quite high. Belarus supplies us with equipment, raw materials for further production, end-use products. This includes glassware, trackside equipment, various instruments and devices for measuring and control. These are also medical and surgical equipment, nonwoven materials, special yarns, plastic products. Public transport, agricultural and municipal machinery occupy a special place. Minsk-made engines made it possible for our region to become one of the regions where tractors and loaders are produced under its own brand,” the head of the Russian region said.

In his words, Belarus is a long-standing and reliable partner for the region. “We have more than 100 partner countries. Belarus ranks fifth in the list. I believe it is a starting position that should be improved. This means to improve the positions in our commodity turnover, exchange, including cultural and tourist services. We have more than 30 enterprises founded by citizens of Belarus,” Alexander Avdeyev said.
