MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) - Major Russian business offers to amend the EAEU technical regulations on dairy and milk-containing products, Executive General of the Russian national dairy producers union Soyuzmoloko Artem Belov told the media, BelTA has learned.
“Currently milk-containing (with milk fat substitutes) and dairy products are covered by one technical regulation No. 33. We suggest separating the products: those that are made exclusively from milk and those containing milk fat substitutes. The latter should be further divided into two categories: containing more than 50% of substitute and less than 50%. Our strategy is to combine these products into one group, incorporate them into technical regulation No. 21 and describe them in technical regulation No. 22. Thus we will ensure clear positioning of two different groups of products on the market. It is important that consumers understand the difference between dairy products and milk containing products. By name and shelf placement they will know that these are different products,” Artem Belov noted.
According to the representatives of Russian business, such measures will stimulate the demand for traditional dairy products. “The category of products containing more than 50% of milk fat substitute is currently unregulated at all. This issue needs to be addressed,” Artem Belov noted.
The proposal of the Russian business on the revision of the technical regulations will be discussed in the Eurasian Economic Union. A working group will be set up to examine the issue.
The Russian delegation has arrived in Belarus to discuss technical regulation of the production of milk and dairy products, compliance with trade demand and supply balances, economic efficiency of production and processing of milk. On 19 July the delegation had a meeting in the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus and is set to visit Belarusian enterprises.More about Economy
