Russian ambassador sees great potential in Belarus-Russia industrial cooperation

MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – Belarus-Russia cooperation in the manufacturing industry has a great potential; the two countries have plans to draft a list of priority joint projects, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Mikhail Babich told the media on 16 November, BelTA has learned.

Talks are underway between the industry ministries of the two countries, government agencies and corporations interested in closer bilateral cooperation. The parties “are set to draft a list of priority joint projects in investment in order to build up common industrial capacity of the Union State, as well as common system of cooperation and sales”, the diplomat added.

In his words, it is important to create conditions that would give the two countries a competitive edge on the external market.

Mikhail Babich emphasized that there are no more disputes between Belarus and Russia. “There are some current issues that we address quite successfully,” the ambassador said. They include talks on compensation to Belarus in view of the tax maneuver in Russia's oil industry. Mikhail Babich underlined that everything should be transparent and understandable to the both sides.

“Our partners should have a clear understanding of the schedule, amount and type of compensation to the Belarusian budget. Those who draft the Russian budget should also be well informed about the amount and type of support that might be offered to achieve our common economic objectives,” the diplomat said.
