Russian food quality watchdog inspecting 11 apple growers in Belarus

MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) - Specialists of Rosselkhoznadzor (the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia) are in Belarus to assess the apple production capacities, the traceability of their export to Russia and the phytosanitary certification system, BelTA learned from Rosselkhoznadzor's website, BelTA has learned.

Russian experts will stay in Belarus till 20 July. During this time, they will assess the production capacities of eleven enterprises that produce apples in of Brest, Vitebsk and Grodno regions.

As it has been noted, these activities are carried out at the request of the Main State Inspectorate for Seed Production, Quarantine and Plant Protection of Belarus. Following the visit Rosselkhoznadzor is expected to make a decision on the temporary restrictions currently in place on the import of Belarusian apples to Russia.
