Roscosmos head: Belarus' science contributes to space industry development

MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) – Belarusian scientific potential has been successfully working to contribute to the development of space industry, Director General of Roscosmos State Corporation Dmitry Rogozin said in an interview to the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“I have great respect for what has been done in Belarus in recent years. In fact, the country has no powerful sources of self-financing, such as, for example, huge reserves of minerals. But here one can see a careful attitude to everything, the ability to live within one's means and develop one's own science. Belarus has preserved its main, human, capital. There are a lot of smart, intellectually developed people in the country who will fit into our common work, and we would be happy to do it together. Belarusian enterprises have preserved their potential and have excellent plans which we could use together with the capabilities of Roscosmos as a customer and as an implementer of all these ideas in space activities,” said Dmitry Rogozin.

Dmitry Rogozin named three priority areas that Roscosmos and Belarus will develop in the near future. “The first one is the active involvement of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in research at the International Space Station. The second direction is the selection of basic space platforms for Earth remote sensing satellites. “Roskosmos shows interest in the mass production of satellites. The optical and mechanical research conducted in Minsk may become the basis for the project that will be implemented by Roscosmos in cooperation with Peleng,” Dmitry Rogozin said. The satellite consists of high-level microelectronics, capable of operating in extreme conditions. “Such enterprises as Integral can find their place in the import substitution policy, which Roskosmos conducts in microelectronics today,” he stressed.
