Rising competitiveness of Belarusian products in Chinese market noted

MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Yuri Senko held online negotiations with Ni Yuefeng, Minister for General Administration of Customs of China, and other top officials of the administration on 3 February, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Beijing.

The parties spoke at length about ways to boost export of Belarusian products to China. Ni Yuefeng noted that Belarus-China trade has been on the rise against the backdrop of a slump in global trade. The export growth was driven by non-resource goods, primarily agriculture and food products, which demonstrates that Belarusian goods are getting more recognizable and competitive in the Chinese market.

The parties also discussed the bilateral cooperation agenda, including activities of the joint commission on customs and quarantine cooperation, ways to improve effectiveness of the agreement on mutual recognition of authorized economic operators of Belarus and China and to shorten the duration of container transportation by rail from China to Europe via Belarus.

Ambassador Yuri Senko stressed the effectiveness of the policy pursued by the Chinese customs to curb the spread of the coronavirus, expedite customs procedures, and simplify trade procedures.
