Refinancing rate down to 8.75% in Belarus

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – The refinancing rate went down from 9% to 8.75% on 19 February. The overnight lending rate was cut from 10% to 9.75% per annum and the overnight deposit rate - from 8% to 7.75% per annum, BelTA has learned.

These decisions were made by the Board of the National Bank following the meeting on the monetary policy on 12 February. The next meeting is scheduled for 13 May 2020.

According to the National Bank, the decision to reduce the country's refinancing rate will contribute to the neutrality of the monetary policy. This will help keep the inflation rate within the 2020 target for secure the price and macroeconomic stability in a mid-term perspective.

The refinancing rate was last reduced in Belarus on 20 November. Then the rate was cut form from 9.5% to 9% per annum.
