Record-high volume of milk made in Belarus in 2022

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – As much as 7.6 million tonnes of milk was made in Belarus in 2022, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Sergei Fedchenko at the forum Agriculture of Belarus. Dairy Farming.

Sergei Fedchenko said: “Due to abnormal climatic conditions in 2021 dairy cattle husbandry suffered considerably because of the shortage of concentrated feed and a substantial decrease in the consumption of grass feed. At the same time thanks to professionalism of specialists in 2022 Belarus once again secured record-high productivity of the milk herd and record-high gross milk production. In 2022 milk production totaled 5,520kg per cow, with the country's total milk production at 7.6 million tonnes.”

In his words, in the last ten years milk production in Belarus rose by more than 25%.

“Dairy cattle husbandry in Belarus is one of the most effective branches of agribusiness. Performance of executives and specialists of Belarusian agricultural enterprises has at all times been evaluated by the state of affairs in dairy cattle husbandry since milk is the most affordable foodstuff for all categories of the population,” the official added.
