Prime ministers of Belarus, Russia discuss creation of common energy markets

MOSCOW, 26 January (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko and Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin discussed the creation of common energy markets in Moscow on 26 January. The enabling of equal conditions for merchandise access to the markets of the two countries as well as several other topics were discussed as well, BelTA learned from the Belarusian head of government after the negotiations.

Roman Golovchenko said: “We cooperate with Russia in all areas. The agenda of economic interaction is extensive. We have to restore the trade turnover, which has dropped a bit due to the pandemic.”

“We've discussed various matters: the formation of the common market of energy resources, matters concerning the unhindered access to the market, the participation of Belarusian enterprises in government procurement contracts in Russia, and an increase in the number of aviation flights,” the Belarusian prime minister said.

Roman Golovchenko remarked that no hot-button topics had been discussed during the negotiations. “We routinely reviewed all the matters of current interest. If I have to sum it up, we compared notes and sketched out plans for the next month or two,” Roman Golovchenko concluded.
