Prime minister underlines calm situation in Belarusian production sector

MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – The situation in the production sector of Belarus is absolutely calm, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko on 12 August.

Roman Golovchenko said: “As the head of government I would like to state that the situation in the production sector is absolutely calm, all the enterprises work in normal mode no matter how someone may wish to present it otherwise and claim that workers are on strike or something else is going on. We have up-to-date information. We keep an eye on things.”

The prime minister believes that people want to continue working calmly. “We see that the workers state: let us work, let us calmly earn money, we want to feed our families,” the head of government noted.

In his opinions, claims about strikes and walkouts represent an attempt to create a myth that the situation is getting destabilized.

Roman Golovchenko stated that certain sources are trying to make choreographed ploys look like protests staged by workers. In his words, strangers try to imitate some rallies near entrances of enterprises.

Roman Golovchenko pointed out that performance parameters of the Belarusian production sector are getting better. It would be impossible to achieve that without steady work of the workers.

The prime minister continued: “The government keeps an eye on the situation. We stay in touch with heads of enterprises, trade unions. We see attempts to rock the situation. Naturally, we've checked and verified reports. Responsibly speaking, I can state that there are no reasons to believe these rumors. I'd call them provocations.”

“There may be some displeasure. But it is not related to some election campaign. There are civilized ways for resolving labor disputes,” Roman Golovchenko added.
