PM: West's sanctions against Russia, Belarus have failed

MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – The aggression in the form of sanctions by the collective West against Russia and Belarus did not achieve its goal; the determination to pursue closer integration within the EAEU has only grown stronger, Belarus' Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty, BelTA has learned.

“Last year, we were affected by difficult geopolitical events. In these difficult conditions, we realized that only together, in a union, can we guarantee real independence and sovereignty, defend the interests of citizens, their right to a stable and peaceful life,” Roman Golovchenko said. “I am sure that I will express a common opinion if I say that the aggression in the form of sanctions imposed by the collective West against Russia and Belarus has not achieved its goal. We at EAEU have become even more determined to strengthen our integration. There is an understanding that this path has no alternative. I believe that the Eurasian Economic Union has passed another stress test well,” the Belarusian head of government said.

According to him, it becomes obvious that the global community has entered an era of de-globalization of the economic system, reformatting of world markets, breaking and rebuilding of supply chains, division of payment systems, and revision of the structure of gold and foreign exchange reserves by many countries.
