PM: Union State integration will contribute to legal harmonization, business climate

DZERZHINSK DISTRICT, 5 November (BelTA) – The Union State integration will contribute to the approximation of laws of Belarus and Russia and will improve the business climate, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told the media while commenting on the results of the Supreme State Council meeting on 4 November, BelTA has learned.

“The Union State guidelines provide for the unification, harmonization and development of common standards. The ministries of the two countries will take specific measures to achieve these goals in order to give access for Belarusian business to procurement tenders in Russia, to reconcile technical regulation requirements. This is the point of harmonization and unification. We estimate that about 400 normative legal acts on both sides will subject to revision. We will remove bottlenecks to approximate technical regulation measures, to ensure traceability of agricultural products and to facilitate information exchange between our phytosanitary services," Roman Golovchenko said.

He stressed that the harmonization of legislation will contribute to improving the climate for business, both public and private. "Of course, we believe that Belarusian producers will benefit from this. The Russian market will be of critical importance for us for many years to come. We need to do everything possible to ensure that access to this huge market that consumes our goods and services is not hindered," the prime minister said.
