PM stresses importance of Russian market for Belarus

MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – Preserving the Russian market as a priority market is an important task, but Belarus will continue to actively explore other markets, Belarus' Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said in an interview to ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“It is an important task for us to preserve the Russian market as a priority market. Of course, we do not put all the eggs in one basket and do not focus solely on the Russian market. Our export, for example, to the People's Republic of China has been growing rapidly. The European Union market is also important for us,” said Roman Golovchenko.

He added that the small Belarusian market is not interesting enough for a large investor, and it is the membership in the EAEU that gives Belarus the opportunity to work in the entire economic space. “An investor can set up an enterprise in Belarus and sell its products to Russia and Kazakhstan. This is one of the most important advantages for the members of the Union,” the prime minister explained.
