Plans to start making base paper in Belarusian Shklov by late September

MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) – The Shklov-based newsprint mill intends to start making base paper for manufacturing decorative finishing materials by the end of September, the press service of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom told BelTA.

Preparations to commission the fabrication line are in progress. According to the enterprise's Director General Yuri Luka, the necessary equipment has been delivered and the fabrication line will be enhanced with it by mid-September. The enterprise intends to reach the necessary quality parameters of the base paper by the end of the year. The new product is expected to sell well to producers of laminated fiberboards on the home market and abroad. The newsprint mill intends to make about 30,000 tonnes of base paper every year.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko was made familiar with progress of the project on 4 September. The head of state had tasked him with overseeing the project. Bellesbumprom Chairman Mikhail Kasko also closely follows the project's progress.
