Plans to open 45 dairy farms in Belarus in 2020

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – As many as 45 dairy farms are supposed to be commissioned in Belarus in 2020, BelTA learned from Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Khotko.

According to the source, as much as Br11.4 billion in fixed-capital investments was poured into the development of Belarusian agriculture in the last five years. At the same time the investment dynamics demonstrated negative figures in this period. For instance, in 2019 investments in the development of agriculture totaled 95% as against 2015 and 57% as against 2011. The low investments resulted in failures to build new dairy farms and reconstruct and modernize existing ones. The construction projects that have been started have to be finished by the end of the year.

According to Anatoly Khotko, as many as 149 dairy farms were built and reconstructed in 2019. It is necessary to commission 45 dairy farms in 2020. All measures should be taken to make it happen, the agriculture and food minister stressed.

Anatoly Khotko also noted that in 2019 thanks to modern technologies and the renewal of physical infrastructure at dairy farms the share of premium quality milk in the total milk output rose from 48% to 52%.
