Plans to hold Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona offline in late October

MOSCOW, 23 September (BelTA) – The organizers of the 13th Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona, Italy plan to hold it on 22-23 October in the usual format, President of the Association Conoscere Eurasia, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banca Intesa Antonio Fallico said at a press conference on 23 September, BelTA has learned.

“We hope that the forum will be held in Verona on 22-23 October and that the participants will attend it in person,” Antonio Fallico noted. “The speakers enthusiastically agreed to participate. Everybody want to meet and talk in person, not via a screen. Otherwise we risk to lose the depth of communication and contact with reality,” he added.

Verona will host businessmen, representatives of governments and international organizations from Eurasian countries. They are set to discuss the international macroeconomy and trade, the energy sector, finance, and digitization of infrastructure. International genome studies will be a new item on the agenda. “Perhaps, this will be one of the few offline forums, so it will attract a lot of attention,” Antonio Fallico said.

The organizers will take all the necessary safety measures, Antonio Fallico noted. Due to the epidemiological situation, they had to reduce the number of participants almost by half. The previous editions of the forum brought together up to 1,500 people. According to Antonio Fallico, in line with a special executive order of the Italian government, the participants of the Eurasian Economic Forum will not be subject to a two-week quarantine. For its part, the Russian government will allow all non-Russian participants of the forum to travel from Verona to Russia, he added.
