Plans to commission bleached sulfate pulp plant in Belarusian Svetlogorsk by 1 December

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – OAO Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill will commission a bleached sulfate pulp plant by 1 December, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom Yuri Nazarov on 16 October.

The official said that the bleached sulfate pulp plant is supposed to be commissioned by 1 December. The plant works steadily now, with the daily output close to 700 tonnes. Foreign partners have been invited – a consulting company – to provide recommendations on gradually reaching the designed output capacity. The plant is supposed to make 149,000 tonnes of pulp this year and 100,000 tonnes has been produced so far.

Another major project is to launch the plant to make coated and uncoated board at the Dobrush-based paper mill Geroy Truda (a branch of the holding company Beloboi). The government has informed the head of state about approaches to completing the project in Dobrush. The head of state approved of them. The relevant draft legislation is going through the necessary approval process and will be submitted for consideration of the head of state soon. The plant is supposed to be commissioned in 2020. According to Yuri Nazarov, the Austrian company Andritz is ready to sign a contract and participate in the project's implementation.

BelTA reported earlier that the Safe Industrial Practices Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gospromnadzor) has issued a positive conclusion about the bleached sulfate pulp plant of Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill. The conclusion certifies the plant matches the approved design documents, safety and operating reliability requirements. The plant is designed to make 400,000 tonnes of bleached sulfate pulp every year. The Dobrush-based paper mill will use the pulp to make 200,000 tonnes of paperboard per annum.
