Plans to approve Eurasian integration strategy in May

MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) – Plans are in place to approve the Eurasian integration strategy until 2025 in May, Belarus' Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov said as he spoke at a board meeting of the Economy Ministry, BelTA has learned.

"The strategic areas of the Eurasian economic integration until 2025 will be finally approved in May. The document contains a number of innovations. The matter is primarily about mechanisms to remove barriers in the EAEU domestic markets," said Aleksandr Chervyakov.

The minister stressed that trade agreements between the EAEU and third countries need to be used to promote Belarusian exports. Last year such agreements were signed with Singapore and Serbia. Agreements with India, Israel and Egypt are in the pipeline. “The potential of bilateral cooperation in trade in services and investments is still hugely untapped. There is a need to actively develop this area. Preliminary estimates show that the new areas of economic integration may increase GDP by $5-6 billion by the end of the next five-year period,” he said.
