Plans for another five Belarusian-design agrotowns in Venezuela

MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – Venezuela requests that another five agrotowns of Belarusian design be built, BelTA learned from Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats on 5 October.

“There is an agreement and Venezuela's request to build our agrotowns in five other locations,” said Leonid Zayats.

The official reminded that the construction of Venezuela's first agrotown began several years ago. Belarusian specialists have erected 176 residential buildings and a warehouse for mineral fertilizers, have built over 20km of roads, and have cleared 2,500ha of land from shrubs. Over 400 specialized vehicles and machines have been delivered from Belarus, over 1,200ha of land has been sown.

“Only one fifth of the program has been fulfilled. In order to finish what we've started, Venezuela needs to show its will. Sources of funding are necessary. The construction of dairy farms, poultry farms, a slaughterhouse, a meat-processing plant, milk-processing enterprises, and other facilities is ahead of us,” noted the Belarusian agriculture and food minister.
