MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) – Belarusian exporting enterprises concluded more than 30 agreements and contracts with Uzbek partners during the Belarus-Uzbekistan agricultural forum, BelTA learned from the press service of the government.
The government delegation headed by Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Dvornik visited Uzbekistan. The deputy minister met with Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov. Negotiations were held with the heads of some ministries and departments. Vladimir Dvornik also visited Tashkent Tractor Plant, Craffers candy factory and Tashkent processing facilities. Besides, he participated in the Belarus-Uzbekistan agricultural forum.
Following the forum the Belarusian Industry Ministry and Uzbek Leasing International AO signed an agreement to provide services under finance leasing of goods produced in Belarus. The Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus and the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation.
The forum was attended by more than 700 people. Uzbekistan was represented by delegations from all regions of the country, agencies and companies of the agricultural sector. The Belarusian delegation included about 150 representatives of companies exporting agricultural and food products, scientific and educational institutions of the country.
Uzbekistan is a promising trade and economic partner of Belarus in the Central Asian region. In 2019, the bilateral trade exceeded $239 million (up more than 1.5 times). These are record-high figures in the history of economic relations between the two countries. Agricultural produce and food products are among the most important positions in mutual trade. In 2019, Belarus exported $35 million worth of agricultural products and processed products to Uzbekistan. The volume of Uzbekistan's agricultural products supplied to Belarus exceeded $15 million.
Apart from mutual supplies, the promising areas of cooperation in the agricultural sector also include Belarus' participation in the construction of dairy farms, milk processing, setting up of a joint venture to produce veterinary drugs, cooperation in breeding, training and retraining of Uzbek specialists at the Belarusian agricultural educational institutions.
