Over 250 deironing water stations to be built in Belarus in 2019

MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) - In 2019 Belarus plans to build more than 250 deironing water stations, Marina Tolstik, the head of utilities and energy at the Housing and Utilities Ministry, told the media, BelTA has learned.

“In 2018 we put 41 deironing stations into operation. In 2019 plans are in place to build more than 250 deironing stations. All in all, we are planning to build around 1,400 deironing stations, to drill wells and conduct other activities to ensure all residents with high-quality drinking water by 2025,” Marina Tolstik said.

More than $50 million in budgetary funds will be invested in the construction of deironing stations in 2019-2020. Plans are in place to use the loans of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), own funds of water and wastewater companies for these purposes. “Work is currently underway on an investment project to build 80 water deironing stations in Vitebsk Oblast with the use of the EBRD funds. We are talking about €15 million,” Marina Tolstik noted.

Inventory of water supply and wastewater treatment systems was conducted in all regions in 2018. The regional packages of measures to provide the population with quality drinking water were approved.
