Organizing committee set up for 3rd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine

MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) – The committee in charge of organizing and hosting the 3rd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine in Grodno in 2020 will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Lyashenko, BelTA learned from the Belarusian government website.

The organizing committee has been instructed to work out a plan for preparing for the event by 20 February. If necessary, heads and specialists of central government agencies and other state-run organizations, the oblast administrations, the Minsk City Executive Committee, and other bodies will be invited to join the work.

Earlier BelTA quoted Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Kravtsov as saying the city of Grodno has already started preparations for the forum in order to make its organization impeccable.

The forum is traditionally held in various formats. Representatives of central and municipal government agencies and the private sector of the two countries take part in it. The forum's purpose is to present the economic potential of the regions of Belarus and Ukraine, develop new initiatives and forms of economic, investment, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation at the interregional level.

The 1st Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine took place in Gomel on 25-26 October 2018. The second one took place in the Ukrainian city of Zhitomir on 3-4 October 2019.
