Oman to invest in increased manufacturing of dairy products in Belarus

MUSCAT, 5 December (BelTA) – Oman intends to invest in expanding the output of dairy products in Belarus and in improving the logistic chains for delivering them to Oman and other countries in the region. Abdullah Al Rashdi‏, Director General of the holding company Oman Food Capital (a daughter enterprise of the Oman Investment Authority that invests in agriculture and food), made the statement after a meeting with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.

The first batches of Belarusian foods, including powdered milk and butter, have already been delivered to Oman and have been duly appreciated over there. “The price and quality of Belarusian products are perfectly balanced,” emphasized Abdullah Al Rashdi.
In fact, those were not deliveries of standard Belarusian foods intended for end consumers. Belarusian butter and milk powder were supplied to manufacturers of other food products. “We are only making plans for deliveries of pure products,” the director general explained. “Nevertheless, the first test batches were very successful. That is why we are intent on continuing the deliveries, but not only as pure imports to Oman. We intend to invest in expanding the output milk processing products in Belarus and in improving the logistic chains for delivering these products to Oman and countries in the region.”

When asked what Oman is interested in producing together with Belarus and what Belarusian technologies are useful and interesting to this country in the first place, Abdullah Al Rashdi explained: “We would like to primarily focus on making products with high protein content. First and foremost, we are talking about dairy products, milk powder, baby food, and many other by-products generated by milk processing.”
But Oman does not intend to content itself with this area alone and is looking at other economy branches. “We are looking at other areas and products that we can produce in your country. Belarusian agricultural technologies are really good, this is why we are now closely looking into which of them we can use at the manufacturing facilities we plan to set up in Belarus,” said the head of the holding company.

The Omani company is also interested in the possible application of Belarusian agricultural technologies in Oman itself. “Among other things we are talking about the possible processing and manufacturing of final products here in Oman using Belarusian agricultural raw materials,” said Abdullah Al Rashdi while talking about the prospects.
